「長久手交流プラザ」小会議室で第33回ワークショップを開催しました !

== 当日の流れ ==

■Let's catch up! (最近どうしてた? 色々話そうよ! )

いつものように「最近どう？」を聞き合いました。

金沢旅行に行ったこと、スキマスイッチのコンサートに行ったこと、
ボランティアの仕事をしていたこと、学校の採点業務が忙しかったことなどを
シェアしました。

OUTPUT

・She works from 8:30 am to around 8:00 pm. 彼女は朝8:30から夜8:00頃まで働きます

・She went to a concert and had a fun time.　彼女はコンサートに行き、楽しい時を過ごしました。

・I help mothers who are struggling to raise their children.　私は子育に苦労しているお母さん達を手助けしています。

・The NPO provide us the meeting place, and lunch or dinner. そのNPOは集まる場所や、ランチ、ディナーを提供してくれます。

・My job is holding babies while mothers are enjoying their time.
私の仕事は、お母さん達が自分の時間を楽しんでいる間に赤ちゃんを抱っこすることです。

・They provide them (with) diapers and other sanitary items. 彼らはおむつやその他の衛生用品を提供してくれます。

・Anne was spending a very busy week. アンはとても忙しい一週間を過ごしていました。

・The second semester of the highschool is coming to an end. 高校の二学期がもうすぐ終わります。

・She needs to mark the test and grade her students. 彼女はテストに採点をして、生徒に成績をつける必要があります。

■What are your 5 biggest news stories of this year? -Public　News-

「今年の5大ニュースは？」をみんなで持ち寄って話しました。

ニュースと言っても個人的なものと公的なものがありますが、まずは公的なニュース。

みなさんそれぞれが5大ニュースを挙げて、それらについて質問し合いました。

・I was curious about what kind of woman he would chose.　私は彼がどんな女性を選ぶのか興味がありました。

・Mr. Ohtani and his wife have a similar vibe.　大谷氏とその妻は雰囲気が似ています。
(この場合の"雰囲気"にatmosphereを使うのは不自然です。atmosphere は場所、空間、部屋などに使われます。)

・They look alike. 彼らは似ています。

(南海トラフ地震の臨時情報発表)

・It was the first time that an emergency notice had been issued for us.　臨時情報が発出されたのは我々にとって初めてのことでした

・I had a portable gas stove, but I didn’t have a gas canister (cartrige). 　カセットコンロは持っていましたが、ガスボンベは持っていませんでした。　
※「カセットコンロ」や「ガスボンベ」は和製英語です。

▼The Paris Olympics was held.　(パリオリンピックが開催された)

・A girl named Koko(恋) won a gold medal in skateboarding.
恋(ここ)という名前の女の子がスケートボードで金メダルを獲得しました。

▼The so-called '1.03 million yen wall' will be raised.　
(いわゆる「103万の壁」が引き上げられることに)

・The income cap of 1.03 million yen will be raised 103万円の所得制限が引き上げられることになりました。

・Does it affect your life?　それはあなたの生活に影響しますか？

・The 103-man yen income cap (threshold) is a very old policy. I think we need to change it.
103万の壁はとても古い政策です。変える必要があると思います。
※wallという表現は英語では通じず、 cap (上限) またはthreshold(基準値)という単語を使用します。

▼Mr. Saito was elected as the governor of Hyogo Prefecture
(斎藤氏が兵庫県知事に選出)

・I didn't think he would be elected.　私は彼が当選するとは考えていませんでした。

・He is said to have committed "power harassment".　
・He is accused of workplace bullying / harassment.　　彼はパワハラをしたと言われています。
※power harassmentは和製英語なので " "をつけています。

・A prefectural council member committed suicide.　県議員の一人が自殺しました。

・The old media has lost, and the new media has won.　旧メディアは敗れ、新メディアが勝ちました。

・It is difficult to get accurate information from the news.　　ニュースから正しい情報を得るのは難しいです。

・I got scared by the spread of false information.
・The spread of false information scared me.　　間違った情報の拡散が怖いと思いました。

・We can't tell what is true.　何が真実なのかわかりません。

▼New bills were issued on July 3rd.　　(7月3日に新紙幣が発行された)

・I was surprised by the sizes of the three kinds of bills. They are all different.
3種類の紙幣の大きさに驚かされました。全て違っていました。

・The price numbers are printed larger on the new bills. 新紙幣では値段の数字がより大きく印字されています゜

・My mother says that old bills have more charm. 私の母は、古いお札の方が味わいがある、と言っています。

▼The Noto earthquake caused a severe disaster. (能登地震が大災害を引き起こした)

▼Rice was sold out. (お米が売り切れた)

・We couldn't buy any rice this summer.　この夏にはお米が買えませんでした。

・I maneged to buy rice.　なんとかお米が買えました。

・I went to several stores and even had to wait in line to buy it. いつくかの店に行き、列に並んで待つ必要もありました。

・Trump thinks only about the USA. トランプはアメリカのことしか考えてません。

・International trade and global exchange rates will change because of him.
国際貿易や世界の為替レートは彼の影響で変わっていくでしょう。

・If he raises tariffs, China's economy will get worse.
彼が関税を上げると、中国経済は悪化するでしょう。

・I hope the minimum wage in Japan rises. 日本の最低賃金が上がることを望んでいる。

それは100年以上かけて建築されていて、2026年についに完成する予定です

・Temple admission fees in Japan are inexpensive.　日本では寺院の入場料は安いです。

・At Himeji Castle, they are considering charging different admission fees for foreigners and Japanese visitors.
姫路城では、外国人と日本人とで入場料を分けることが検討されています。

▼ I've heard a lot about food poisoning. (食中毒のニュースについてよく耳にした)

・Additive-free foods are great, but they can have risks.　無添加の食品は素晴らしいけど、リスクもあり得ます。

次にみなさんの「個人的なニュース」をシェアし合いました。

ペアの方とシェアし合ってまずペアの方から1つ発表してもらい、
その後、質問し合ったり本人に補足してもらったりしました。

各ニュースへの質疑応答で色々とプライベートな情報が得られ、楽しめました。

・The shape of the brush is unique — it looks like a pyramid from both the front and the side.
そのブラシの形は独特で、前面から見ても側面から見てもピラミッドのように見えます。

・This design is highly effective at removing plaque. この形状は歯垢をしっかり落とすのにとても効果的です。

・Once I start using this, I can't go back to a regular toothbrush.　一度これを使い始めたら、普通の歯ブラシには戻れません。

・The new school has a lot of ICT. I have trouble coping with that.　新しい学校にはたくさんのICTがあります。私はそれに対応するのが大変です。

・My children started working this April.　この4月に私の子供たちは働き始めました。

・My son is a pharmacist and works in Ise.　息子は薬剤師で、伊勢で働いています。

・My daughter is a nurse, and she’s struggling with her new job every day.　娘は看護師で、毎日新しい仕事に苦労しています。

・I feel relieved that they were able to find jobs. 彼らが仕事を見つけることができて、私はほっとしています。
